THE '71' SPECIAL
The First 71 Special was constructed in 1970. A 71 Special and associated parts was placed on permanent exhibit in the Country Music Hall of Famein Nashville, Tenn. in 1975.
The 71 Special features rosewood back and sides, spruce top, and voiced top and back bracing.
Don inlaid a beautiful variegated-wood back strip, herringbone purfling and soundhole rosette.
This treasure is finished out, using abalone snowflake fingerboard inlays, the mother-of-pearl Bellflower headstock inlay, and gold plated keys.
The width of the fingerboard at the nut is 1-11/16", and Don used jumbo frets--for ease of playing!
THE DOC WATSON SIGNATURE MODEL
The first Gallagher guitar Doc Watson got was in 1968.
In 1974 the first Doc Watson Model guitar was made.
Don Gallagher is proud to introduce an upgrade version of this classic instrument in 2000 - the Doc Watson Signature model.
This model takes an already special guitar and adds some very distinctive features.
The body, neck, and headplate are bound in Maple. The ebony fingerboard is inlayed with mother-of-pearl diamonds and squares capped off with Doc's signature--meticulously inlayed at the 12th fret position.
The tone of this instrument is true to its heritage:
IT RINGS LIKE A BELL!!
